Biogeographic distribution
Platydoris scabra is widespread in the tropical Indo-Pacific (Figure 1). Of the thirty-six known species within the genus Platydoris, Platydoris scabra is the only species to have an extensive habitat range (Mulliner and Sphon, 1974). Unlike other Platydoris species, whos ranges usually consist of one location, Platydoris scabra has been recorded in South Africa, Singapore, Indonesia, Papua New Ginea, Red Sea, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Madagascar, Seychelles, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Australia, Tonga, Samoa, and Maldive, Laccadive, Solomon, Philippine, Marshall, Caroline and Tubuai Islands (compiled by Edmunds (1971)).
